From 3 to 7 August 2026, the National Museum’s Education Department celebrated its annual National Science Week with educational outreach lessons to schools in and around Bloemfontein. Our Education Officers, Patrys Meyer and Andries Makwaai, visited Grade 6 and 7 learners from 10 primary schools, reaching a total of 3,504 learners.
This year’s theme was ‘Science, Technology and Innovation at the National Museum are for Everybody’! We focused on what the National Museum offers, giving learners insight into our research and human sciences departments. We explained how science, technology and innovation are practised at the National Museum, at the learners’ level of understanding.
