Although apartheid officially ended more than 30 years ago, the memories and lived experiences of ordinary people during that troubled period in South Africa’s history are still vivid. Many apartheid victims and participants in the liberation struggle have already shared their memories and testimonies as part of research projects, but many more still need to do so. Are you one of them?
Recently, the National Museum in Bloemfontein launched the South African Oral History Liberation Heritage Project to record the testimonies and experiences of ordinary people. How did people survive from day to day? How did they deal with apartheid laws? How did they handle discrimination? Were they involved in the struggle?
