Learning through art: Museum as classroom

Venue: Oliewenhuis Art Museum (1st floor of Main Building)

This exhibition is a visual celebration of renowned South African artists like Helen Sebidi, Judith Mason, William Kentridge and other celebrated artists for everyone to enjoy. The exhibition focusses on the Grade 12 Visual Art curriculum and includes artworks that highlight gender issues, identity, religion and the role art play in socio-politics. The artworks were carefully chosen with the aim of enhancing the learning experience for students and allowing them to delve into art beyond their textbooks and engage with it first-hand.

The museum acts as an interactive classroom, offering teachers and learners the opportunity to explore, engage with, and analyse these captivating artworks. The exhibition is curated from Oliewenhuis Art Museum’s Permanent Collection.
