Employers in the visual arts sector are invited to apply to host graduates for a period of four (4) months. Employers to be considered may be visual arts organisations, galleries and/or art professionals operating in the visual arts sector in all provinces.
Background
The Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP3) 2022 Work-Based Experience Programme is government initiative supported by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, implemented by the National Museum, and coordinated by the Art Bank of South Africa, with the aim to reactivate the sector into the right path of the Economic Recovery and Reconstruction Plan (ERRP) post the COVID-19 pandemic.
The qualifying selection criteria for the graduates to be placed should vary from TVET college qualification, and university qualifications.
During the course of placement, the candidate should be exposed to a variety of organizational/ professional functions and processes, and should by the end of the period of the program be able to complete a small project (e.g. the planning and organisation of an exhibition, event, workshop etc.) with minimal external supervision and should be equipped and possibility be in a position to:
- be employed on a part-time, full-time or contract basis by the host organization or any other similar organisation; OR
- be able to pursue freelance work as an administrator, curator or project manager in the visual arts or an adjacent field.
Submission Criteria
- A completed application form is required. Submission forms can be found on the National Museum website www.nasmus.co.za
- Constitution; Articles and/or Memorandum of Association; list of
Board of Directors, list and a paragraph profile of key management/executive
members or working committee
(in the case of organisations) - Letter of authority from the Chair of the Board that permits the signatory to sign the MOA and a certified ID copy (in the case of organisations)
- Professional Artist CV, sample portfolio and proof of office/studio address (in the case of professional artists)
- Certified ID copy (in the case of professional artists)
- Account details confirmed by a stamped bank letter
- Applicants will be required to register on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) and be SARS tax compliant.
The decision of the Council of the National Museum is final.
Nonadherence to the above criteria will result in the application being disqualified.
