The National Museum will this year again exhibit and interact with visitors at the Amanzi Game Festival, which runs from 9 to 10 August at the Amanzi Private Game Reserve, approximately 11km north of Winnie Mandela (Brandfort) town. One of the Museum departments that will take part is the Department of Ornithology, with Dawie de Swardt (HOD) and Zingisile Mbo (Intern) that will do a bird ringing demonstration on Saturday the 10th.
Mist nets will be opened at sunrise to catch birds, and research aspects such as bird ringing, general handling and the taking of various measurements will be illustrated from 06h00 to 11h00. For more information about the festival, contact Sunell Boshof at 083 6795 862.
