2025’s THEME

“MADE OF PLASTIC” – Rethink plastic and protect wildlife.

Students are encouraged to participate in the competition and create art inspired by the effects, challenges and solutions of plastic pollution.
Let’s spark creative dialogue and inspire action towards a more
harmonious relationship with our environment.

Open to Free State preschool learners ages 5 to 9 years old.

Learners can submit original artworks which focus on
“MADE OF PLASTIC” 
Exploring Biodeversity and Endangered Species in our Ecosystem in South Africa, the National Museum have a wide variety of these species.

Are you a creative young mind ready to make a difference?
Join us in this powerful art competition where students are invited to explore the impact of plastic pollution on our planet’s wildlife.

Create artwork inspired by the effects, challenges, and solutions of plastic pollution.

Artwork submissions will be accepted in a variety of media, provided that they:

  • Are not potentially harmful.
  • Do not exceed 1m x 1m size.
  • Do not exceed 30 kg in weight.
  • No AI artwork.

Competition closes:
2 August 2025 at 15h00. No late entries will be accepted.

Drop-off/Collection point:
The National Museum, 36 Aliwal Street, Bloemfontein.

All finalists in each category will be invited to the Award Ceremony where our panel of judges will announce the winners and offer professional advice to aspiring artists.

The winning artworks will be displayed in the National Museum, Bloemfontein.
